I was made to be a Mom. This I’ve always known to be true, well that and a teacher. Ever since I can remember I loved babysitting, nurturing others, and had my first little one before I graduated college. Looking back, not the wisest decision, but she brings so much light into my world. Fast forward to now: I turned 30 this last year, recently had my third little one, have been married for just over one year, and about to embark on a new journey to earn my Administrative License to hopefully one day become a principal. With all that said, I feel like this last year has been a big one. And I’ve always dreamt of being a blogger, not really for the sake of others but I love to talk. So really it’s just a place for me. I have a lot to say and my poor husband is happy to know that I am starting a blog to get all my thoughts and ideas out of my head and into a place other than telling him everything that’s been on my mind during dinner 😉 He’s a good listener, nonetheless though!
So here I am, starting a blog. Not really sure what to write about here: teacher stuff, parenting stuff, house stuff, life stuff, hobby stuff, I see a pattern here…lots of stuff runs through my mind.
I’ve decided that turning thirty is a moment in my life where I’m going to embrace the shift that just won’t give up. I’ve made a choice to really look in the mirror and reflect. Where have I been? What has gotten me here? Am I proud? Am I on the right track? Sometimes the answer is yes. But most of the questions I asked myself was no. I started reading a book this last summer, I’m sure you’ve heard it Girl, Wash Your Face. You guys, LIFE CHANGING! It’s like she’s speaking to me and telling me everything that I’ve always thought about myself but didn’t want to believe. The words were jumping out and yelling at me to take life by the you know what and be in control. So that posed the question, what do I want for my life? When I look ahead, what are the goals I want to accomplish, what are the values I want to instill in my kids, what kind of marriage do I want, what vacations do I want to take, and the list goes on. I made it a goal to be the mother I want to be, the wife I want to be, the friend I want to be, the teacher I want to be, and most importantly…be the best version of me. Not for anyone else, but for ME.
With this in mind, I have a few goals about what I want to focus on and share this year with you all:
- My Family: They make up a large part of who I am. I love them like no other. I share about them on the daily on my Instagram page (or as my husband likes to say “The Gram”), so it’s only natural to share about them on here as well!
- Healthy Eating: I plan to share recipes we’ve tried and love. It’s hard to meal plan on a budget and fix meals that three little ones plus my husband will love. If we find something that works for us and is a big hit, I’ll be snapping a pic and sharing it here with you all.
- Working On My Mindset: This one scares me. Being honest and open about what I’ve been through is terrifying, but having found ways to overcome those inner struggles is important enough to share. Even if I can give hope to one person out there, it’s worth it.
- Parenting: Being a parent is hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do! Can I get an AMEN?! I hope to share these seasons of our family’s life with you all. Having a community to share parenting stories, struggles, and little hacks is so important. We are in this together!
- Marriage Life: We are not perfect. I repeat, we are not perfect. Far from perfect, actually, and it’s the area we always talk about making more time for. I would love to hopefully talk about our past story, our current situation, and things we are doing to help strengthen our bond.
- Spending More Time In My Creative Outlets: I love all things clothes, home design, and crafting. Give me a party to plan, and I’m all in! I need this part of my life to grow. It’s what I have going for myself besides being a Mom and a teacher. I’ll be sharing things I find and love here and there.
- Education: Most of my days are spent in the classroom. I live and breath education. I have the best job in the world. I get to spend most of the day with our future adults. Middle School is rough, but man, do I love it! They make me laugh, they inspire me, and I get to share my passion with them. Nothing else I would rather do! I’ll probably have a tab saved for activities or lessons I do in my classroom to share with all you!
So that’s it. Just seven things. No big deal. Probably too much, but hey…DREAM BIG! I want to share all the parts of my life with you all as long as your willing to read, hence the spark of The Good Life…a play on words with my last name. Still thinking about what my first few posts should be about. Probably a lame intro post about my story…and then I’ll get to the good stuff! If you have any suggestions about what you want me to share and write about from this long list of seven things, comment below.
Love,
Lindsay
